Europe and the Oneness of Being
Art as a Guide to Peace
8 March – 30 April 2016 l WBB GALLERY l Invitation
In Bernd Schwarzer we welcome to Zurich not only a painter of international standing, but an avowed humanist and ambassador of peace in the tradition of Joseph Beuys and other representatives of the Dusseldorf Art Academy. The exhibition «Europe and the Oneness of Being» invites viewers to political, cultural, and philosophical dialog. In what does the power of the European ideal lie? What role does Switzerland play in the heart of Europe? Can art and humanity overcome ideological and social divides?
Bernd Schwarzer’s pieces have been displayed in over 80 exhibitions worldwide, and have been acclaimed in the most-elevated circles. His works are to be found in numerous private and public collections, including the ALBERTINA in Vienna, the LUDWIG MUSEUM in St. Petersburg, and in the German Bundestag in Berlin.
Bernd Schwarzer’s first exhibition in Zurich features relief-like impasto paintings and sculptures, works by a visionary artist with a central message. It is about more than the ideal of a united Europe. Ultimately, it is about the oneness of humanity and creation as a single whole.
