Markus Heydecker

Short Profile

Markus Heydecker, born near Zurich in 1962, used to make wonderful creations out of chocolate and marzipan when working as a baker and confectioner. He then took a new direction and became an artist and a sculptor, following his motto that personal growth results from overcoming opposition. He has been working with stone, bronze, and wood for two decades now. His abstract and highly aesthetic sculptures allow many interpretations and are characterized by reduction. You can discover various different beings, bodies, and shapes, some of which are static, the others in motion. Many of his works of art follow an organic principle, without attempting to copy Nature. They originate from a gut feeling, and aim to make you stop and look. Markus Heydecker’s art has been shown in Switzerland and Germany. The artist lives and works in Switzerland.
