Focus on the Essential. – Peter Georg Müller, born in Zurich in 1954, has been working autodidactically for almost three decades with natural stone from all over the world. As a trained construction engineer, he has a fine feeling for materials and their spatial staging. He has always been interested in transitions, fractures, and the relationship of bodies to one another. His sculptures captivate through highest precision, simplicity, and timeless elegance. His works are not only beautifully shaped and geometrically surprising, but they are also convincing in terms of haptics. The surfaces and edges of his often nested sculptures are incredibly finely crafted. One cannot help but touch and caress the stone. This sensual quality creates a connection to the Earth and the mineral treasures of Nature: Art made for touching, but at the same time clear and focused on the essential.

The works of Peter Georg Müller have been exhibited in Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Holland, and China. The artist lives and works in Switzerland and Spain.

Biographical Sketch

1954: born in Zurich (Switzerland), from Bergamo (Italy)
1956: Childhood and schools in Binningen and Basel (Switzerland)
1978: Degree in construction engineering (ETH Zurich) and work as an engineer
1987: First sculptures under the guidance of John Grüniger as a mentor
1999: Relocation to Barcelona and working as an independant artist
2001: Retreat to the rural region of Garrigues (province of Lleida, Spain) and intensive artistic work for 10 years
2012: Return to Switzerland
